General Store: The CES Cafeteria offers the services of a 'General Store' to students in grades K-3. The General Store is intended to offer snacks and beverages that may be purchased in addition to the students regular lunch. A student who purchases a 'hot tray' lunch from the cafeteria may purchase 2 items from the General Store. A student who brings his lunch from home may purchase 2 items from the General Store. Items from the General Store must be purchased prior to sitting down at each assigned homeroom table. Students will not be allowed to get up after they have already been seated. Kindergarten students may begin to purchase items from the General Store after the return from Winter Break. There is no 'charging' at the General Store. Items have a selling price between $0.25 and $1.00.
CES Cafe Rules & Consequences:
A student may charge meals (breakfast or lunch), not to exceed two breakfasts and two lunches, without prior approval of the principal. Individual schools may allow charges, not to exceed five breakfasts and five lunches, with written permission from the parent or guardian and approval from the principal. The parent must be contacted when a student is denied a charge and sustenance must be provided. To be in compliance with federal and state regulations, there must be a reconciliation of the charges and what is owed must be paid from funds other than those of the School Nutrition Program (cafeteria). Any losses arising from uncollectable accounts and other claims, and related cost, (bad checks, bad debts, etc) are unallowable. (reference: C.C. memo, 05-15-89 - TDOE) Cash or checks accepted.
