EAST ROBERTSON HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the East Robertson High School Counseling Program is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the personal/social, academic and career development of all students. School counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. In partnership with other educators, parents/guardians and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure all students at East Robertson High School have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at their highest level as productive members of the 21st century.
The East Robertson High School counselors believe:
• All students have dignity and worth and have a right to a safe, mutually
respectful, healthy and orderly learning environment.
• All students have a capacity to learn and to be supported academically.
• All students will be provided with a school counseling program that takes into consideration their developmental stages, learning styles, and varied diversity.
• Learning involves the education of the whole person and is a continuous
life-long process.
• Diversity is to be respected and appreciated as we foster unity among our
students, faculty, staff and community.
And that the East Robertson High School counseling program should:
• Engage students in proactive and reactive classroom, group and/or individual activities to enhance student learning.
• Provide academic, career, personal and social development for every
student.
- Utilize a variety of data to plan programs to meet students’ needs and measure the effectiveness of those programs.
And that we as school counselors at East Robertson High School:
• Will abide by the professional school counselor and educator ethics as advocated by the
American School Counselor Association, the American Counseling Association, and the Tennessee Department of Education.
• Shall participate in professional development essential to maintain a
quality school counseling program.
