The Sounds Game is May 12th.  The deadline for AR points to go to the game is April 9th.

AR stands for Accelerated Reader and is a reading program geared to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. This program allows students to take tests on books they have read and their reading stories from class. The students receive points for correct responses on the tests. Prizes are given for points accumulated throughout the year. Along with individual rewards the following rewards will also be given.

AR Trophies are given every 4 weeks to the class that accumulates the most points for each grade level for each 4 weeks. Our trophies will move from classroom to classroom according to who has the most points in the 4 week period.

We have a goal for the school of 25,000 AR points. If we reach this goal we will place Mrs. Grogan on the roof of the school one day in May. We will have her dressed as a book character and on the school roof to greet students as they come to school. Then we will have the pledge to the flag and announcements made outside for the students. Encourage your child to read and help get Mrs. Grogan on the roof of the school.

Also new this year for AR prizes is a prize for the class with the highest points in each grade for the year from 2nd – 5th grades. This prize will take place in May. The prizes for each grade is as follows:

2nd grade - Popsicles

3rd grade - Decorate and eat cupcakes

4th grade - Decorate and eat cupcakes

5th grade - Extra Recess
