Hi, This is Linda Messinger, the teacher at Bransford Elementary that teaches P.E. and music to Kindergarten and Pre-K students. You may have taken an in-service there in Brain Gym. This site is to help you add new movements to your Brain Gym menu you already do before various learning activities in your classroom. We are starting out with the basic PACE movements, the basis for all brain gym activities.
PACE stands for "Positive, Active, Clear, and Energetic". These movements help students to focus and prepare them to learn. A good time for these movements would be first thing in the morning, after lunch or recess. Breathing is very important during the first movement. (one hand over heart, and one over tummy button) Breathe in through the nose, out through the mouth. Each movement should be done from 20 sec. to a minute or more if needed. Using relaxing instrumental music helps students to focus and do the movements, especially after a transition time. Drinking water before these movements is VERY important as water is a conductor or electricity and the brain sends electrical impulses out to the different parts of the body.
