I am really excited to start the 2009-2010 school year. This will be a very exciting year for students. Every year students look forward to all the new things that they will be learning and doing in third grade. It is a very busy year with a lot of standards to be taught and learned. Below I have listed some of the exciting things that will take place throughout the year.

Math Bowl competitions
Creating a book for publication
Cursive handwriting
Multiplication Tables



I use a lot of technology to teach. I do most all Language, Science, and Social studies lessons on powerpoint and some Reading and Math. Research has shown that if students hear it, see it, and say it, they are more likely to remember it. Through the use of powerpoint students get this opportunity. I am also very lucky to have a SMART board in my classroom. The SMART board is an interactive white board that allows students to manipulate activities on the computer and internet with their hands on a white board without standing at the computer. Students absolutely love this! Please come by and see the SMART board in action. Trust me when I say you will be hearing lots about this. You may use this page to find textbooks online. I don't use the textbooks very often, but they are a good resource for extra practice at home. You will also find links to other really good sources and fun learning activites for third grade.
