Weekly Lesson Plans -- 7th Grade
Lesson plans are general plans and are subject to change due to inclement weather, student or teacher need, or school activities. A variety of teaching strategies will be used to achieve maximum student learning.
August 9-13 -- critical listening skills essential for comprehension, evaluation, problem solving, and task completion, purpose and audience of a speech, adjective/adverb phrases (types of prepositional phrases), prewriting strategies, write an essay with structured paragraphs
August 16-20 -- literary genres, author's purpose, adjective/adverb phrases (types of prep. phrases), variety of prewriting strategies, graphic organizers
August 23-27 --literary genres, stated and implied theme, compare themes across two or more pieces of literature, infinitives and infinitive phrases, refine strategies for editing and revising written work
August 30 - September 3 -- similar themes across two texts, identify main events in plot and action, identify characters, collective and compound nouns, correct capitalization, English words that come from Latin and Greek, roots, suffixes, prefixes, write in a variety of modes for a variety of audiences and purposes
