Honors Poet Paper
Our honor’s class is going to go the extra mile with our poetry portfolio. As a separate assignment, each student will be assigned a poet on which to write a 5 paragraph essay. This essay will be due the same day as the portfolio, December 16.
The essay should stick to the following outline:
I. Introduction
II. Poet’s early life
a. Where were they born?
b. Where have they lived?
c. What kind of education did they have?
d. When did they start writing?
e. Religious or Political views?
III. Poet’s Major works
a. What are some of their major works?
b. What other poets or people influenced their work?
IV. How the poet has influenced our culture?
a. Are they still read today?
b. Where might you find references to the poet or their works?
c. Have they influenced any other poets?
V. Conclusion
This should be bound in a separate folder from your portfolio and include a works cited page. Here are some examples of citing:
