Introduction
GVC.Sitemaker is a content management system designed to make publishing basic web sites easy. When you use SiteMaker you can easily edit the content of your site in an editing environment similar to using a word processor like Microsoft Word. SiteMaker places your content within the framework of an exsiting web page template so that you don't have to worry about all the technical details. You don't even have to think a lot about maintaining the navigation between pages on your site as SiteMaker handles most of that for you.
SiteMaker began life in 1998. It was written by Dr. Jonathan Maybaum, Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical Center, to give students and staff a tool to develop and maintain web sites. Global Village Consulting became involved with Site Maker in 2001 to help with development and marketing. SiteMaker has been a open source project since 2005, allowing others to join with the University of Michigan and Global Village Consulting in the development of the software. Here are some links of interest:- UM.SiteMaker — The University of Michigan’s SiteMaker site.

- Ann Arbor Public Schools — A public school system using SiteMaker.
- Holland Christian Schools — A private school system also using SiteMaker.
Robertson County Schools began using SiteMaker to enable schools, organizations and teachers to quickly and easily create and maintain web sites. With SiteMaker you can easily maintain the content of your site (the orange area in the screenshot below). You won’t have to worry a lot about maintaining the links to all the pages in your site because SiteMaker will generate a navigational menu (green area) for you. And while you can select from different style templates to change the look of your site you will not have to worry about creating that from scratch.
