Site Footer Information
Each web page on your site has several page elements. The footer allows you to provide contact information to your site viewers. It also provides a place for up to four custom links to be displayed at the bottom of every page on your site. This should not be used as a list of resource links you think visitors might find helpful, but they should be used to represent things like major affiliations. For example, this could be a link back to your school's site. A site for a local FFA chapter might want to include a link to the national FFA site here. Likewise, a site for a ball team might include a link to the TSSAA site in its footer.
The Overall Appearance page is where you can make changes to your site's footer. If your footer is missing then one of three things could be wrong.
- Your footer will not be displayed if you have not entered any information that should go there (see following information).
- Look to see if you have hidden the footer. If so, change the setting to "Show" (see screen shot below).
- You may have chosen a style that does not display footer information. Change styles to see if this is the problem.
Your contact information
Here's how to add or edit your contact information to be displayed in the footer:
- On the Overall Appearance page enter your name, phone number, email address, and fax number into the appropriate fields (see second screen shot below). Note that these are not required fields so you can leave some of them blank.
- Make sure the Show Footer radio button is set to Yes (see above). (Note that a style can be designed to render this option useless.)
- Click the Submit button (or click Submit & View to see your changes in a new browser window).
Custom links
Here's how to add or edit your custom links to be displayed in the footer:
- n the Overall Appearance page enter link text and URLs into the appropriate fields (see second screen shot below). Note that these are not required fields so you can leave some of them blank.
- The link text is what will be displayed on the browser window that someone can click on.
- The URL is the actual address of the site you want to link to. You can visit this site in another browser window, copy the URL from that window, and paste it into this field to avoid typos.
- Make sure the Show Footer radio button is set to Yes (see above). (Note that a style can be designed to render this option useless.)
- Click the Submit button (or click Submit & View to see your changes in a new browser window).
