Data Table Packages

One of the best features SiteMaker has are its data tables. With data tables you can set up your own custom database and then create one or more sections to access that table. This feature is very flexible and customizable leaving a lot of room for you to develop a lot of ideas for your site. The downside is, while data tables are very easy to build, not everyone will want to go to the trouble to build one. This is where data table packages come in.

Date table packages are files that will install a previously designed data table and associated data access sections onto your site. This gives you a data table solution that is ready to work without your having to design anything. If you choose, you can modify the package if it doesn't exactly fit you needs.

Installing a Data Table Package

Installing a package is very easy. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Download a package you would like to use from this site (see Available Packages). It will be an XML file.
  2. Log into SiteMaker and upload the file to your site.
  3. Return to your Main Configuration Page,  scroll down to the Database Tables section, and click the Install Package button.
  4. Select a package file to install from the popup menu and click the Install Package button. The Easy Install option is recommended.

It will take SiteMaker to install the package.

NOTE: Initially you will find that the access privileges for the imported data access sections will only allow site owners/co-owners to access them. You will need to open the properties for these sections to allow guests to access them if that is your intended audience for one or more these sections.
