Welcome to our Guidance and Counseling site!
Watauga students enjoy a class session once a week for 40 minutes with one of our two counselors. They talk about things like understanding feelings, solving problems, and making friends.
Our class curriculum for the last nine weeks will cover the following TN State Standards:
- 3.1 Relating school skills to those needed in the work place
- 6.1 Effective behaviors for school and work
- 6.2 Teamwork
- 6.3 Conflict management
- 6.4 Establishing habits of successful people
- 6.5 Relating school and work success in the future (3.2)
- 6.6 Identify personal interests
- 9.1 Learning coping skills to handle grief, loss, test anxiety, etc.
- 9.2 Community resources are available to assist with needs
- 9.3 Making safe and healthy choices
- 9.4 Recognizing threats to safety
Sometimes individual students talk with a counselor when they need help with a special problem like a death in the family or a troublesome situation at school.
Small groups of students are formed (with parental permission) to discuss a shared problem or situation such as anger management or a divorce in the family. The members meet new friends, gain self-confidence and improve coping skills in a safe and fun environment.
We are here to help. If you have questions, concerns or suggestions please email or call either of us and we will be happy to confer with you.Click on either name below to send an email to one of our counselors:
