Physical Education is much more that just another recess or play time. It is an integral part of the total educational program. It is a very important part of the day and teaches our students the value of developing physical skills. The concepts, skills, and activities that we introduce throughout the year are designed to emphasize motor skills through games, activities and sports that contribute to all student's growth, development, and social attitudes, by teaching basic body manaagement, skill development, and improvement, visual motor integration and spacial awareness. Teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for peers and adults are encouraged during all classes.
Primary Grades
In the primary grades, movement exploration, self development and cooperation skills are emphasized. Students progress from simple movement to more complex patterns and then apply these skills to small group activities and games. Some of the skills they will learn are:
♦ listening skills

♦ cooperative games
♦ balance activities
♦ manipulation skills (rolling, bouncing, throwing, and catching)
♦ rhythms and dance

♦ field games
Grades 4 and 5
In 4th and 5th grades, combining skills, higher level fitness, wellness activities, and an introduction to game/sport strategies are emphasized.
