Melanie Dickerson
Melanie Dickerson is an experienced educator who has served the families and students in Robertson County Schools for over forty years. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and earned a Master of Arts in Education for curriculum and administration.
Her teaching career began at Westside Elementary School as a reading teacher and then a fifth-grade teacher for six years. The next ten years included teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at Greenbrier Middle School. Mrs. Dickerson’s experience as a school administrator launched at Greenbrier Elementary School where she served as assistant principal and subsequently principal for eight years. Mrs. Dickerson has served the Board of Education for 17 years, first as the Elementary Supervisor for 14 years and currently as the Assistant Director of Academics.
Mrs. Dickerson is a lifelong resident of Robertson County where she, her husband, and her children attended public schools. She enjoys watching her grandchildren experience life and looks forward to their successes in the district’s school system.

Steve Sorrells
Mr. Steve Sorrells is a product of the public education system of Robertson County. After graduating from Greenbrier High School in June of 1978, Mr. Sorrells attended Austin Peay State University, on a football athletic scholarship, completing a Bachelor of Science in General Business, with a certification to teach in secondary schools, in June of 1982. He later obtained a Master of Education degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in the spring of 1999.
Mr. Sorrells began his professional career at Greenbrier High School in August of 1984. Mr. Sorrells served as assistant principal for six years before serving as the Principal of Greenbrier High School for five years. In 2012, Mr. Sorrells joined the Dickson County School system serving as Director of Student Services for 11 years before rejoining Robertson County Schools in December of 2023.
Mr. Sorrells has had the privilege to present at multiple conferences, sharing his experiences and application of the public-school processes. These include the National Youth and Resilience Conference, Tennessee Pupil Transportation Association, the Tennessee School Boards Association and the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents. He currently serves on the steering committee of the Tennessee Attendance and Data Supervisors. He has also led several district initiatives to address concerns for student safety, behavior, attendance and discipline.
Mr. Sorrells is actively involved in church leadership serving as adult Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years, church deacon and a Licensed Minister of the Gospel. Other past civic leadership roles include serving as chairman of the City of Greenbrier Planning Commission and City of Greenbrier Parks and Recreation Board for many years.
Mr. Sorrells' family includes his wife, Tina who he has been married to for 39 years, a son Jim and daughter-in-law Kayla who serves as a middle school teacher for the district. The family also includes a granddaughter Parker who has just begun Pre-school in Robertson County Schools. Mr. Sorrells looks forward to joining the staff of Robertson County Schools and reaching new levels of success for our county.
