Gifted Education

Our Commitment

  • We strive for excellence by nurturing intellectual and creative abilities by maximizing the potential for achievement and by meeting the affective, social, and emotional needs of all gifted learners from diverse populations and backgrounds.
  • We believe that every child should be challenged and motivated to meet and exceed individual goals.
  • We desire to provide opportunities to meet a student's individual needs for intellectual challenge and rigor, engaging enrichment, and educational programming resulting in maximum growth as we endeavor to inspire creativity, passion for learning, leadership, social responsibility, and ultimately for the advancement of mankind.
  • We recognize that each gifted student requires time during the school experience to work with intellectual peers, work alone in independent study, and work with mainstream students as they develop self-awareness, positive self-concepts, and productive interpersonal relationships.

Research supports that as students learn to take more academic risks and engage early in accelerated curriculum challenges, they are more likely to choose advanced/honors classes in high school, lean toward more rigorous college majors, and strive for more engaging professional careers, thus leading to productive world citizens.

RISE Endeavors

We apply an interdisciplinary approach combining a universal theme to drive the curriculum focus as we teach critical/creative thinking and reasoning to foster 21st Century Skills and thinking like disciplinarians in a field. Each year, gifted teachers survey students for areas of interest to drive the curriculum focus. One of our primary targets is to understand what it means to be gifted and how we can use our gifts and talents to our fullest potential while contributing to global citizenship. A variety of units of study are offered to strengthen the social-emotional habits of each and every student as we learn about giftedness, leadership, citizenship, and potential. Individual and personal focus is addressed through independent study topics, inquiry-based/discovery learning, as well as competitions and challenges to demonstrate mastery and proficiency. Through these endeavors, we desire to encourage all students to discover and reach their potential.
