Literacy Leaders

full-time classroom teachers targeting improved literacy outcomes for all students

Why Literacy Leaders?

In Robertson County, less than half of all third- through eighth-grade students are proficient in the area of reading. This statistic is an urgent call to grow better readers. In response, a focus on improving reading outcomes for students will be supported by Literacy Leaders.

Who?

Literacy Leaders are full-time classroom teachers in grades kindergarten through eighth grade supporting colleagues in their daily instruction of literacy.

What?

These leaders will promote Tier I instruction, host a model classroom, and pursue professional growth opportunities for improving their craft. The expected work of a Literacy Leader complements that of an instructional coach, though both positions have distinct responsibilities. A stipend will be paid to selected leaders.
