School Health Advisory Council

The Board recognizes the link between student wellness and academic achievement. In order to implement overall wellness for students, a Student Wellness Policy (policy number 6.4003) has been created. This policy states that an advisory council shall be established to serve as a resource to school sites for implementing policies. The School Health Advisory Council consists of individuals representing the school and community, including parents, students, teachers, school administrators, school board members, health professionals, school food service representatives, and members of the public.

TRIENNIAL ASSESSMENT- Each school district participating in the federal school meal programs must complete an assessment of their local school wellness policy at least once every three years. This requirement was established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
