Health Screenings
Health Screening Basics
The State of Tennessee encourages students to undergo basic health screenings to ensure that potential barriers to learning, such as vision and hearing issues, are identified early. Identifying concerns early helps students stay focused in the classroom and promotes better academic performance and overall well-being. Parents have the opportunity to opt out of these screenings during the annual student registration process if they choose.
These screenings include:
-
Hearing screening
-
Vision screening
-
Dental screening (provided by Robertson County Health Department)
Seeing and hearing clearly in the classroom are essential for student engagement and success. Often, children who struggle with vision or hearing may not realize there's a problem because they've never experienced the world differently.
Students in even-numbered grades will receive annual hearing and vision screenings. Dental screenings, provided by the Robertson County Health Department, will also be offered, though the schedule for these may vary. Parents will be notified of the results from all health screenings.
