Program Funding
How Are School Meals Funded?
By federal law, School Nutrition Program operates as a self-supporting, nonprofit food service account held entirely separate from the rest of the district's finances. It draws nothing from the district's general fund and
local tax revenue does not fully fund school meals.
Revenue comes from three sources: per-meal reimbursements through the USDA's National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, USDA Foods (a commodity entitlement of bulk staples), and paid-meal sales at the register. Unpaid student meal charges are not reimbursed by those funding sources. When meals are served but not paid for, the unpaid balance is the responsibility of the family. Unresolved charges may negatively impact the school and our nutrition program.

RCS SNP Angel Fund ❤️
RCS School Nutrition Program has partnered with FIG K-12 Nutrition to help manage and support the program's angel fund process. In addition, the company assists with communicating unpaid meal balances to families through text messaging. Families can receive unpaid balance notifications by text and have the option to make payments electronically through their phone, providing a convenient way to fund their unpaid balance.
Help Support Student Meal Accounts ❤️
Community members, businesses, and organizations can help support students and families by contributing to the RCS School Nutrition Program Angel Fund.
Are donations tax deductible?
Donations made through the angel fund website generate a payment receipt through the online payment processing system at the time of contribution. An additional receipt may also be provided through the district's partner vendor (FIG K-12 Nutrition).
Please note that Robertson County Schools & RCS School Nutrition Program cannot provide tax or legal advice regarding charitable contributions. Donors are strongly encouraged to consult a qualified tax professional or financial advisor to determine whether a contribution may be tax deductible based on their individual circumstances.
