Cheatham Park Elementary students were excited to participate in a mock job fair on Tuesday, October 27, when various community members volunteered to interview 5th grade students in preparation for their up-coming field trip to Junior Achievement’s BizTown in November.

Prior to the job fair; students have been learning about balancing a checkbook, applying for a job, Students learn banking job application writing a resume, and operating a business. Students had to select a job that interested them and prepare for a job interview. Members of the business community participated in the job fair by interviewing students for jobs in their field.

Following the job fair, some students will be campaigning for the office of mayor. Candidates will give speeches during morning meeting and the entire student body will have the opportunity to vote for the candidate that they feel is most qualified to be mayor. At BizTown, students will practice the skills that they have learned in a fully-interactive simulated town.
