District Educators Receive VFW Award

Two East Robertson teachers were recognized recently by the VFW District 4 with the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award.  The awards were presented at the March 28, monthly meeting of the District 4 VFW.

 

Julie Stroud, teacher at East Robertson Elementary School, and Holle Wiktorek, teacher at East Robertson Middle School were selected, along with a Sumner County teacher, as teachers who best represented the values of the award.

 

 This Award is for Instilling a sense of National Pride in Students and Concern about the Perpetuation of America's Noblest Traditions and Highest Ideals while Promoting Civic Responsibility, Flag Etiquette, Patriotism and Furthering the Aims and Ideals in Rendering Encouragement and Supporting Students and their Community.

 

Dale Mettler, District 4 Event Chairman, and Bob Underwood, District 4 Quartermaster, presented the awards to the pair.

 

Along with their district award, their Outstanding District Winners Synopsis has been sent to the Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America in Nashville, TN for consideration in the upcoming State Competition.
