Robertson County Virtual School student Emily Walling has been selected from a pool of more than1,000 applicants to participate in the 2016 Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts in July.  She will be attending the annual summer event on scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University for dance.

At the four-week event, students from throughout the state will study music, visual art, dance, filmmaking, or theatre.  Each day will be filled with classes, rehearsals, demonstrations, workshops, films, and discussion groups.  Guest artists as well as resident faculty will share their experience and talent with students on a daily basis.  Students will live, work, and play with other gifted students who share similar passions and will experience many opportunities for cultural, social, and recreational activities as well.

Emily is the daughter of Lewis and Julie Walling of Pleasant View, TN.  She is in the choral program at Greenbrier High School, and has studied dance with Nashville School of Ballet (Nashville, TN) and Dance South (White House, TN).
