East Robertson High School celebrated a noteworthy accomplishment on Friday, April 7, when Tennessee Titan1 Jason McCourty visited the school to help present a statewide first place nutrition award from the Tennessee Titans and the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association.

The contest, Milk: The Titans of Breakfast,” was intended to generate awareness of,  and participation in a program to increase school breakfast participation among students.  ERHS recorded the highest percent increase in the state, with a 47% increase in school breakfast consumption and 30% in milk consumption.  As a result the students received a breakfast celebration, a visit from McCourty, and a cash prize of $2,500.

Supervisor of Nutrition for Robertson County Schools Patsi Gregory said the day was a win-win for everyone.

“A healthy breakfast at the start of the day is one way to ensure students are getting the best tools for learning and staying focused,” she said.  “The contest came at a perfect time to help promote, “second chance,” breakfast at ERHS as a way to help those students who did not have time or get a chance to eat breakfast before school started.”

McCourty interacted with students, encouraged them to eat healthy and exercise, and helped present the check to school principal Mary Cook.  Titan mascot T-Rac was on hand for the morning, as were Titan cheerleaders Abbey and Heidi.
