Education Association Spelling Bee Produces District Winners

Five schools were represented at the annual Robertson County Education Association Spelling Bee on Monday night, April 11.

 

Thirty-three students participated in 4the event, representing grades 4-8.  Dr. Chris Causey, Supervisor of Accountability, moderated for the evening and presented the students with their spelling words.

 

1Jo Byrns Elementary School fifth-grader Blake Jones won the championship for 4th and 5th grade contestants with the correct spelling of the word, “apostrophe,” He bested runner-up Conner Sneed from East Robertson Elementary School, after an extended back and forth competition between the two.2

 


3Jose Ayala, Springfield Middle School 6th grader won the middle school segment, correctly spelling the word, “acknowledgement,” after his co-finalist, Willow Hardester missed the proper spelling.  He clinched the middle school championship with the correct spelling of the word, “camouflage.” 

 

The evening’s event was the culmination of competitions and eliminations within individual schools.
