FFA students win majority of awards at District Public Speaking event
Posted on 02/02/2016

Ten Robertson County Future Farmers of America student members participated in the annual Red River District FFA Speaking Events on Thursday, January 28 at East Robertson High School.

The district is composed of Cheatham, Robertson, and Montgomery counties.  Speaking competition is divided into 4 sections, and this year Robertson County students not only won 14 of the 16 awards handed out, but also placed first in all but one of the public speaking exercises.

FFA Sponsor and SHS Agriculture teacher Pamela Bartholomew said the district was well represented by its members.

“I believe that Robertson County really did shine above the rest,” she said.”  It was a great opportunity for all of our students to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have been learning in their classes.

“Robertson County has not had that many participants in many years," continued Bartholomew, "especially Springfield High School, which has never had a participant in the public speaking competition.  Students were able to practice and then see how their hard work paid off.”
