Greenbrier High School senior Nolan Duke will take to the
gridiron one final time in his high school career when he suits up for the
SPIRAL “All America Classic,” all-star game in Deland, FL on Saturday, January
12.
Duke received his invitation, the only one from the state of
Tennessee, to play with a selected group of 70 high school seniors from across
the nation. College Coaches are
expected to attend and scout from NCAA D1/FCS Programs such as Stetson, Jacksonville
University, Prairie View A&M, and other college programs such as Virginia
University Lynchburg and America Prep Academy.
Duke, who has played for Greenbrier his entire high school
career, said he is excited at the chance to play one more time, particularly in
a showcase event such as this.
“It was pretty nice,” he said regarding his notification
informing him that he’d been selected. “It
feels good knowing that you’ve been recognized for the work that you’ve put into
your sport.”
College football has long been a goal of Duke’s. He’s aware of the level of scouting that will
occur at the game and hopeful that potentially he might be recruited for a
college or university football program.
Whether that occurs or not, he said this opportunity will be one of a
lifetime.
