School Board Bids Farewell To Two Members

Robertson County Schools said farewell to two outgoing board members at the August school board meeting.  Mark Reid, District 2 representative, and Allan Heard, District 1 representative, attended their last board meeting on Monday, Aug. 8.

Reid served for one year after coming onboard to finish out the term of Wendy Bargatze, who moved out of the county.  He did not run for re-election and has been replaced by Jason White.

Heard concluded his service after serving for two decades on the board.  Over that 20-year period of time he rotated through the positions of Chair and Assistant Chair with other members, and was serving as the Assistant Chair at the time of his retirement.  Serving under four different district directors, he was one of three members with a tenure of more than 10 years.

When asked about his five terms of service, he had a number of memories to recount.  Of those, he said his most personal and memorable was handing his daughter her diploma on her graduation from East Robertson in 2020.

Though elected to represent School District 1, Heard said he was proud of the fact that he represented all districts over the years, and was proud of each.  He recounted achievements across the county that he was pleased to have been a part of.

Dr. Causey and the rest of the school board members honored Reid and Heard with some parting gifts.  They thanked and congratulated the two for their selflessness in serving the district and wished them both well in their future endeavors.
