In a 5-1 school board vote, Dr. Chris Causey was chosen to be the newest director for Robertson County Schools.  He will assume his new responsibilities beginning July 1, of this year.

In a brief interview after the vote, Causey shared some thoughts on the course of the past few weeks.

“The process has been amazing,” he said.  “The support that I’ve received from community members, teachers, principals and colleagues has been absolutely overwhelming.

“As far as the final outcome,” he continued, “I’m honored.  I truly am honored to have this opportunity to lead this district that I love so much.  It’s not my district, it’s our district, and we’re going to do some amazing things.

Causey’s initial goal is to generate communication with all who have an investment in Robertson County Schools.

“Sometimes your perspective is different on the inside than on the outside,” he noted. “One of the first things I plan on doing is surveying the people involved.  The first group I plan to address is our teachers. I want to know, in their opinion; what do we need to stop doing that is detrimental to our students; what do we need to start doing; and what are we doing well that we need to continue.”

Causey included community, elected officials, and parents in his list of those stakeholders he desires to hear from so as to make Robertson County Schools the best it can be.
