Classrooms across Robertson County celebrated reading and Dr. Seuss’s birthday from March 1-4, by reading books, dressing as Dr. Seuss characters, decorating, and having community readers read to individual classes.

Readers visited elementary schools and took time to read aloud to individual classes, promoting both an interest in content as well as the need to read.

East Robertson Elementary School teacher Jill Templeton and her class celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday by dressing as Thing 1 to Thing 20.  All students participated by rotating within their grade level to listen to stories and complete different activities.

Westside Elementary School Counselor Joe Gordon said the entire week was eventful and educational.

“It was a fun week,” he said. “Students were excited and giggled at the various outfits everyone wore. Students loved watching Dr. Seuss movies. Teachers really got involved and enjoyed dressing up and crafting their doors. Our Friday readers were impressed by how much effort we all put into this, and you could tell they really enjoyed reading to the kids. I can’t wait to have it again next year!”
