Springfield High Recognized for Regional Nutrition Achievement

Area schools were judged on the increase in school breakfast participation during the month of October between 2013 and 2014.   School Nutrition Supervisor Patsi Gregory said SHS increased their average breakfast consumption from and average of 175 in October of 2013, to 368 in the same month of 2014; a 52% increase.

As a result of their achievement, Penny Washington and her staff received a check for $2,000.  The money is to be split, with half being used for nutritional applications and half for physical education.  No definite usage plans have yet been made in either of those areas.
