Springfield Senior Awarded Highest Honor As District Athletes Recognized For Achievement

Four Robertson County Schools athletes were honored on Thursday evening, Feb
23, at the Middle Tennessee National Football Foundation branch’s 57th annual
banquet. George Plaster, Nashville radio personality, was the MC for the formal
event.
Dya'ron Grundy from Springfield High School, Nathan Robinson from Greenbrier
High, Colby Hulsey from White House Heritage High, and Collin Cook from East
Robertson, all were recipients of the Charles Hawkins High School Scholar
athlete award. They each received a plaque on stage presented by NFL Hall of
Famer, Steve Hutchinson and former NFL quarterback, Kelly Holcomb.
In addition to that recognition, Grundy received the State’s top high school
honor at the banquet. As the recipient of the Admiral William P Lawrence Award,
He shared the stage with people as Kevin Dyson and Murphey Fair and was
prominent on the front of the evening’s program. Seventy schools and 7 colleges
from the mid-state were represented and in attendance at the banquet and
Grundy’s story was the top of the evening.
Grundy is the first Robertson County high school athlete to be recognized by
the NFF with the Admiral Wm. P. Lawrence award, which is named for the heroic
US Navy pilot and Nashville West High School graduate.
